I started playing the piano at around 6 years old and the guitar shortly after. I graduated with a First Class honours degree in Music from the University of Birmingham before gaining a Masters and DPhil (PhD) from the University of Oxford in 2016. I am now a classroom Music teacher at an independent school in Oxfordshire and teach piano and guitar on weekday evenings and on Saturdays. I have had a wide-range of students, both young and adult, from beginners up to grade 8. I am happy to follow an exam syllabus but I'm also equally happy to teach according to each student's interests.
I teach from my home in Hailey, just north of Witney, on a Bechstein grand piano in a dedicated teaching space. I can also offer lessons on Zoom for those further afield.
I can offer the following:
My current fee is £50.00 per hour.
Lessons from total beginners up to grade 8 in a variety of styles. I mostly teach classical piano on the ABRSM syllabus but also have students learning more popular music and Jazz.
I teach Music Theory from beginners up to grade 8 either on the ABRSM exam syllabus or for general interest. I can also assist students who need to take grade 5 theory to access grades 6+ with ABRSM
I can teach guitar from total beginners up to grade 5 in a range of styles including classical and, Rock & Pop. I am happy for students to follow an exam syllabus or to learn for general interest.
I can help with all areas of GCSE and A Level Music and have experience with a wide number of exam boards including Edexcel, AQA, OCR, WJEC.
I also offer piano accompaniment for concerts and exams but I have a very limited number of slots.
For exams up to grade 4 one rehearsal should be sufficient. Exams grade 5 and beyond will require more rehearsals depending on the level and repertoire chosen.
